On February 27 and March 1, 2019, the Office of the China Textile Federation organized 2 consultations on "Promoting Gender Equality Project Training Toolkit for Chinese Investment Textile and Garment Enterprises" in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Hanoi, Vietnam.
In order to assist the responsible and sustainable development of Chinese overseas investment enterprises and promote the project requirements of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the overseas promotion of CSC9000T, the Social Responsibility Office of China National Textile and Apparel Council and the Asia Fund have launched a 2-year joint project to promote Social responsibility and gender equality of Chinese-invested overseas textile and garment enterprises. The project is mainly implemented in Vietnam, Cambodia and Bangladesh. It will promote the establishment of gender equality and women-friendly management mechanisms in enterprises through capacity building for business owners and employees, and improve the leadership of female employees and managers, thereby enhancing the human resources of enterprises. efficiency and sustainable competitiveness. The current project has developed a gender equality toolkit for business managers in Cambodia and Vietnam. As one of the core technical outputs, the toolkit will derive training materials for business managers and employees. This activity is a consultation activity for the stakeholders of Cambodia and Vietnam based on the information package.
At the consultation meeting held in Phnom Penh on February 27, more than 20 people from international organizations, overseas textile and garment enterprises, local Chinese business associations, brands and trade unions attended the meeting. At the meeting, Dr. Liang Xiaohui, chief researcher of the Social Responsibility Office of China National Textile and Apparel Council, and Ms. Meloney Lindberg, chief representative of Asia Foundation Cambodia, delivered welcome speeches on behalf of the initiators of the project, emphasizing the importance of the project's initiation to the development of Cambodia's textile and garment industry; Ms. Zheng Jian, Director of International Projects of China Textile Federation, introduced the background, goals and progress of the project; Ms. Zhang Lei, a Chinese expert in the project team, and Tous Sophorn, an expert from Cambodia, respectively introduced the standard version of the "Information Toolkit" and the Cambodian country information package. framework and content. Afterwards, the participants discussed and gave feedback on the two toolkits, affirmed the framework and main contents of the information packages, and put forward reasonable suggestions for optimization.
On March 1st, the consultation meeting was held in Vietnam Xinma Garment Company. Ms. Fan Yuanqiang, Deputy Director of the Gender Equality Department of the Ministry of Labor, Disabled and Social Affairs of Vietnam, Zheng Thi Qingheng, Director of the Women's Work Department of the Vietnam General Federation of Labor, Vietnam Textile and Apparel Pham Thi Thanh Xin, Vice President of the Association, Professor Mo Wenjin, Director of the Vocational Education and Training Bureau of the Ministry of Labour, Disabled and Social Affairs of Vietnam, and other Vietnamese experts, as well as Vietnamese textiles and garments such as Gu Chaoqing, President of the Vietnam-China Chamber of Commerce, and Yulun Vietnam Textile Printing and Dyeing Co., Ltd. More than ten people including enterprise representatives participated in this consultation. At the meeting, Vietnamese experts spoke highly of the project, and pointed out that the development of information packages to enhance the awareness of employers and employees is of great significance for promoting women's progress and gender equality, especially in promoting women's leadership in Vietnam's textile industry.
