From July 2 to 4, 2019, the training "Promoting the Institutional Construction and Corporate Culture of Overseas Chinese-funded Enterprises" jointly organized by the Social Responsibility Office of China National Textile and Apparel Council and the Asia Foundation was successfully held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The training has been strongly supported by the textile and garment industry associations (associations) of the two countries - the Garment Association of Cambodia (GMAC), the Textile Enterprise Association of Cambodia-China Chamber of Commerce (TEAC Cambodia), and the Business Association of China in Vietnam. . During the three training sessions, more than 70 middle and senior managers from more than 40 companies in Cambodia and Vietnam participated in the training.

This training was held under the framework of the project "Building Gender-Sensitive Corporate Responsibility for Overseas Chinese Textile and Apparel Investors" initiated by the organizer, and was the first training for managers of Chinese-funded enterprises in Cambodia and Vietnam. The training is mainly aimed at improving the ability of female employees by improving the awareness of gender equality within the enterprise and establishing a gender-sensitive management system, thereby promoting the cohesion and centripetal force of employees to the enterprise, and stimulating the endogenous competitiveness of the enterprise.
More than 80% of the labor force in Cambodia and Vietnam's textile and apparel industries are women, and China is also the country that invests the most in the textile and apparel industries in these two countries. According to the survey results of China Textile Federation on gender issues in Chinese enterprises in Bangladesh, Myanmar and Vietnam, both enterprise managers and employees need to improve their understanding of workplace gender equality and women's development. Female employees face difficulties and challenges in the social environment of work, employment and equal pay for equal work, as well as social welfare and family. Some enterprises still lack the protection of the rights and interests of female employees in the management system, as well as the exploration and full application of the skills and leadership of female employees.
At this training seminar, Dr. Liang Xiaohui, chief researcher of the Social Responsibility Office of China National Textile and Apparel Council, interpreted and shared the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese enterprises in overseas investment under the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative, and the promotion of gender equality in textile and apparel. Importance of overseas business operations. Then the trainer Ms. Zhang Lei analyzed in detail the requirements of gender equality in Cambodian and Vietnamese laws, as well as the good practices in business management. This training comprehensively enhances the management of participating companies' awareness and understanding of gender equality and local conditions, relevant laws and corporate social responsibility requirements for gender equality; it emphasizes the establishment of a workplace gender equality system by companies, and enhances business owners and managers' understanding of gender equality. Ability to anticipate, respond to, manage and resolve gender-related issues and conflicts. During the training process, the participating trainees also learned from each other's experience and practice, and with the help of relevant self-assessment tools and self-examination, they understood the advantages and disadvantages of the company's current system and system.
The trainees warmly welcomed the training seminars, and generally believed that the training has comprehensively improved the awareness of gender equality, which will help the company to win the trust of the majority of female employees and overseas customers in the future production, thereby contributing to the company and the local area. sustainable development of society.
