On October 17, Myanmar Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce and China Textile Information Center signed a memorandum of cooperation in Yangon, and exchanged views on further strengthening exchanges and cooperation and better promoting the development of Chinese-funded enterprises in Myanmar.

The memorandum of cooperation was signed by Shi Kun, executive vice president of Myanmar Textile and Garment Industry Branch, and Yan Yan, deputy director of China Textile Information Center. Xie Guoxiang, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, Liu Ying, President of the Myanmar Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, Luo Jun, Executive Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of both China and Myanmar attended the signing ceremony.

 "With the proposal of the 'One Belt, One Road' initiative, more Chinese-funded enterprises choose to invest overseas. At present, Myanmar is an emerging market, and about 400 textile processing enterprises of various sizes have formed, with the number of employees reaching about 400,000. It is very huge.” Counselor Xie Guoxiang said in his speech that the textile and garment industry is an advantageous industry in China, while Myanmar’s economy is still developing and needs the support of labor-intensive industries. This cooperation is conducive to adjustment within the industry and is expected to achieve sustainable development of Chinese-funded enterprises in Myanmar.

According to the memorandum, the two parties have reached an agreement on the following six aspects: training on social responsibility issues, jointly promoting the implementation of the social responsibility standard system, enhancing corporate social responsibility and sustainable development capabilities, jointly conducting international social responsibility project funding applications, and promoting the cooperation between Chinese and Myanmar enterprises. Experience in business and technology docking and joint promotion of projects.

China Textile Information Yan Yan, deputy director of the center, said that China Textile Information Center has launched a social responsibility management system for the textile industry, and has accumulated a lot of overseas experience in human responsibility, environmental responsibility, and market responsibility, hoping to provide more international supply chains for enterprises in Myanmar. opportunities for joint development.

Luo Jun, executive vice president of the Myanmar Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce, said that at present, the Myanmar Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce has more than 100 Chinese-funded member companies. However, due to some companies' lack of understanding of local laws and regulations and folk customs, there have been many labor disputes. Luo Jun said, "In this context, the cooperation between China and Myanmar to carry out multi-party training will help improve the management level and overall quality of Chinese-funded textile enterprises in Myanmar, and promote the healthy and sound development of textile enterprises."

It is reported that the joint training activities of the two sides will be launched in Yangon in the near future, and registrations are currently hot.
