On August 29, 2023, the Sino-French Fashion Circular Innovation Forum, jointly organized by the Office for Social Responsibility of CNTAC and the French Environmental and Energy Control Agency, was held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai). This forum is one of the "Yi Xin Xiang Shan - China France Sustainable Fashion Series Activities," with the theme "Development and Cooperation of China France Sustainable Fashion." Representatives of the French sustainable fashion industry are invited to share their experiences and cases of green transformation in the industry and to engage in dialogue and exchange with leading brands and designers of sustainable fashion in China.

The purpose of this forum is to establish a dialogue platform for practitioners in the Chinese and French environmental fashion industry, promote cross-border exchanges between local domestic artists and the French fashion industry, and promote global environmental fashion creativity and cooperation with the Chinese fashion industry.

Hu Kehua, Deputy Director of the Office for Social Responsibility of CNTAC, first delivered a speech at the forum, stating that fashion today should not only be defined as beauty and fashion but also as a form of responsibility. China's textile industry has always been a vanguard force in global sustainable governance. China National Textile and Apparel Council officially launched the "30 · 60 China Fashion Brand Climate Innovation Carbon Neutrality Acceleration Plan" on June 1, 2021. Under the leadership of Office for Social Responsibility of CNTAC, a group of industry-leading enterprises, brands, and industrial clusters have joined it to promote the sustainable development of the textile industry jointly. In terms of the recycling of waste textiles, China National Textile and Apparel Council has launched a research project on China's textile recycling innovation, conducting in-depth research and research on the process, current situation, and problems of textile recycling, sorting, and reuse. The key research includes six main types of textile fiber materials and how consumer products can be used as industrial raw materials to re-enter the textile industry system. China National Textile and Apparel Council has released the Action Plan for Building a Modern Textile Industry System (2022-2035), which points out that the development goal of China's textile industry is to strengthen its innovation capabilities and development advantages by 2035 continuously, and to significantly enhance its advantages in global industrial division of labor and value chains. The basic formation of the modern textile industry system has become an important leader in global fashion and a powerful promoter of sustainable development. Paris, France, as the world’s fashion capital, showcases a passion and pursuit of fashion everywhere. Both China and France have a profound fashion industry tradition. In the face of global climate change and resource constraints, both realize that the fashion industry needs to contribute to sustainable development worldwide. I hope that through sustainable exchanges and cooperation in the fashion industry between China and France, we can establish and create new explorations and achieve new development in problem-solving.

PHILIPPE MASSET, Director of Europe and International at the French Agency for Environment and Energy Control (ADEME), stated that the clothing industry is at a crossroads, and sustainable development is a necessary path. Circular economy, ecological design and technological innovation will all support industrial transformation. The numerous challenges the textile industry faces require joint efforts from all parties, including fiber producers and consumers. France and the Energy Control Agency can provide support in this area, including supporting investment in ecological design, better promoting the application of recycled plastic materials, and raising awareness among all textile consumers. The "Yi Xin Xiang Shan - China France Sustainable Fashion Series Activities" promote the concept of sustainable fashion throughout the entire textile industry chain of China and France, promote and support the textile fashion industry, and shift towards more responsible production and consumption methods, which is of great significance for the development of the fashion industry in China and France.

PIERRE COUTURIER-BONSERGENT, Deputy Counsellor of Economy at the Economic Department of the French Consulate General in Shanghai, highlighted some of France's sustainable legal systems. The Anti-Waste Law of France's Circular Economy includes five key aspects: better informing consumers, combating waste and developing reuse, getting rid of the one-time commodity economy, combating procedural obsolescence, and achieving responsible production. The EU Circular Economy Action Plan (Green Agreement) focuses on important industries: electrical and electronic products, batteries and vehicles, packaging, plastics, textiles, construction, and construction food. The Circular Economy Anti-Waste Law proposes to end the commercialization of disposable plastic packaging by 2040 and gradually phase out disposable plastic products more generally. Multiple legal provisions have proposed more concrete regulations related to environmental protection and sustainability, which has also made consumers and businesses pay more attention to this work.

ECO IMPACT co-founder H É L È NE SARFATI-LEDUC provides French experience in sustainable fashion innovation to Chinese fashion professionals. She believes that the core of sustainability lies not in creation but in better utilize existing fashion resources and products, and making better connections. The French textile roadmap for 2023-2028 states that starting from 2023, bonuses will be set up for products suitable for protecting the Earth, with the aim of transforming the textile industry into more sustainable products made from recycled products. Deploy a new fund of 150 million euros, which will reduce the cost of repairing clothes and shoes for the French, while also extending their lifespan; Increase the collection of used or remaining textiles to prevent them from entering landfills directly, as they do today.

The founder of ICICLE Zhihe, Ye Shouzeng, discussed the brand strategy around Zhihe's sustainable development concept. It tells the story of the harmonious coexistence between the environment and organisms. Ye Shouzeng pointed out that Zhihe upholds the path of nature, returns to the origin, and showcases the original beauty of materials. This is Zhihe's design philosophy: to get close to nature, feel "soothing and balanced", and interpret the core themes of various brands and products through different product series. In the process of promoting sustainable fashion, we need to slow down, respect nature, meet the ultimate needs of consumers, and strengthen cooperation with the industry chain to achieve green development of the entire industry.

Using natural methods to solve natural problems and building new sustainable lifestyles is Zhang Na, the founder of Renzai Bank,'s understanding of sustainability. Reclothing Bank  is a sustainable fashion brand founded by independent designer Zhang Na in 2010. Re examining clothing from the perspective of "redesign", recycling social waste, and using the power of design to transform and regenerate, creating new works that are suitable for the present. Banks refer to the mode of storing, circulating, and remitting waste that they handle. From turning waste into waste, to turning waste into treasure, this urban symbiotic ecology has made sustainability visible to more consumers.
ISMAHANE REMONNAY, Risk and Regulatory Affairs Director of Veolia Environment Group, believes that technology and science play an important role in sustainable economy. In the era of human-computer cooperation, better use of digital technology can not only help us achieve edge computing and additive manufacturing, but also optimize resource and asset management and improve overall production efficiency through digital twin technology, which is actually a contribution to the fashion industry.
The successful hosting of this forum has strengthened the exchange and cooperation between the fashion industries of China and France in the field of sustainable development, with the aim of jointly promoting the sustainable development of the global fashion industry.
